I Tried Both Botanic and Veganic Natural Hair Growth Oil for 3 Months, Here's What Actually Happened

  • Sarah Mitchell

Okay, so I need to tell you about my hair growth journey because it's been wild.

After postpartum hair loss left me with what I can only describe as a receding hairline situation that made me want to cry every time I pulled my hair back, I went down the rabbit hole of natural hair growth oils.

I ended up testing both Botanic's Batana Oil and Veganic Natural Hair Growth Oil over three months, i picked these because i kept seeing them popup on my feed and they both had a lot of positive reviews, and after using them for 3 months, the differences were... significant.

Here's the thing I wasn't trying to do some scientific study. I just wanted my damn hair back. So I tested them one after the other: I used Botanic exclusively for the first 6 weeks, then switched to Veganic for the remaining 6 weeks. I figured using both at the same time would be confusing and I wouldn't know what was actually working.

But I spent money on both (and a lot of it), so I might as well share what I actually experienced with each one.

1. The Texture and Application: Thick vs. Lightweight

First impressions matter, especially when you're putting something on your head multiple times a week.

Botanic's Batana Oil is THICK. Like, really thick. It comes in this solid-ish state that you have to warm up between your palms, and it has this earthy, nutty smell that's... intense, not bad, just very present. The first time I used it, I definitely used too much and my hair looked greasy for like two days.

You have to get the amount just right, and even then, it takes some serious massaging to work it through your hair. I usually applied it at night because there was no way I was going out in public with that much oil in my hair.

Veganic Natural Hair Growth Oil is completely different; it's a liquid oil that spreads easily and absorbs way faster. The scent is lighter, more herbal, and honestly just more pleasant to use. I could apply it in the morning before work if I wanted to because it didn't leave my hair looking like I hadn't showered in a week. The dropper application made it easy to control how much I was using, and a little went a long way. This was huge for me because I actually stuck with using it more consistently.

Winner here: Veganic Natural Hair Growth Oil for daily usability. Botanic requires more commitment and planning.

2. What's Actually IN These Things: One Oil vs. Eleven

So this is where things get interesting, and honestly, it's the biggest difference between the two.

Botanic is literally just Batana oil. That's it. 100% pure Batana oil from Honduras. They're super proud of this—they even have lab reports showing it's over 99% pure. It's rich in omega fatty acids and vitamins, and the indigenous Miskito people have used it for centuries. I respect the single-ingredient approach, and knowing exactly what I'm putting on my scalp was reassuring.

Veganic packs ELEVEN different oils into one formula, and they actually break down what each one does:

It's like instead of hoping one ingredient fixes everything, you're hitting your hair problems from multiple angles at once. Each oil has a specific job, and together they're supposed to supercharge follicle health by 40% in under 6 weeks.

Here's my take after using both: My hair issues weren't just "I need growth." I needed growth AND my scalp was dry AND my ends were breaking AND my hair had lost all its shine, so Botanic's single ingredient felt like bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Veganic's multi-oil approach made more sense for my hot-mess hair situation. When you've got rosemary working on scalp circulation, castor oil speeding up growth, coconut oil preventing breakage, and avocado oil pumping in biotin all at once, it just feels more comprehensive.

3. The Results Timeline: Slow Burn vs. Quick Wins

This is probably what you actually care about, right? Did they work?

With Botanic: I didn't see much of anything for the first three weeks. Maybe my hair felt slightly softer? Around week 5, I noticed I wasn't losing as much hair in the shower, which was encouraging. By the end of 3 months, I could definitely see some baby hairs coming in around my hairline, and my hair felt healthier overall. But it was slow. Really slow. Their marketing says results take "several months to a year," and I believe them. If I'd quit at week 3, I would've thought it didn't work at all.

With Veganic: This is where things got interesting. Week 1 after switching, I noticed less hair in my brush, though some of that could've been carryover from the Botanic, to be fair. But by Week 2, my hair just looked shinier and healthier somehow in a way it hadn't with Botanic. By week 4 of using Veganic, I was taking progress photos because I could actually see NEW growth happening that seemed faster than what I'd seen before. The texture of my hair changed faster too, it went from dry and brittle to soft and more manageable within that first month of switching. After using Veganic for over a month, the difference was dramatic enough that my sister asked what I was doing differently.

Look, I'm naturally skeptical of "fast results" claims, but Veganic genuinely worked faster for me even though I'd already been treating my hair with Botanic for months. I don't know if it's because of the multiple oils working together or what, but the visible changes came much sooner.

4. The Commitment Factor: Patience Required vs. Motivation Through Progress

Here's something nobody talks about: sticking with a hair growth routine is HARD.

Botanic requires serious patience. Because I didn't see results quickly, there were multiple times I almost quit. The thick texture made it feel like a chore to apply, and without visible progress, it was hard to stay motivated. I kept using it because I'd already spent the money, but I'll be honest, if I hadn't been testing both products, I probably would've given up around week 4.

Veganic was easier to stick with for two reasons: it was less annoying to apply, and I saw results fast enough to stay motivated. When you can actually see baby hairs sprouting by week 3, you WANT to keep using it. That positive reinforcement made all the difference for me.

This matters because the best hair oil in the world doesn't work if you quit using it after two weeks.

So Which One Actually Won?

For me? Veganic Natural Hair Growth Oil, hands down.

I wanted to love Botanic because I love the idea of a pure, single-ingredient product, and I genuinely believe it works, it's just slow and requires more patience than I had. The texture was a barrier for me, and when you're already struggling with hair loss, adding another difficult step to your routine feels like too much. After 3 months of consistent use, I did see some improvement, but it felt like pulling teeth to get there.

Veganic checked all my boxes: easier to use, faster visible results (even after my hair had already been treated for months), addressed multiple hair problems at once, and kept me motivated to actually use it consistently. After switching to Veganic and using it for over a month, my hairline situation was SO much better than it had been even at the end of my Botanic trial, my hair felt healthier, and I wasn't losing clumps in the shower anymore.

This matters because the best hair oil in the world doesn't work if you quit using it after two weeks.

I'd recommend Botanic if:

  • You're a purist who wants one ingredient only
  • You have the patience to wait months for results
  • You don't mind a thick, intense oil application process

I'd recommend Veganic Natural Hair Growth Oil if:

  • You want to see results within weeks, not months
  • You're dealing with multiple hair issues (thinning + dryness + breakage)
  • You need something easy to use that you'll actually stick with
  • You want one product that does everything instead of building a whole routine

For what it's worth, I'm still using Veganic 3 months later, and my hair is the healthiest it's been since before my daughter was born. Sometimes you just need the right combination of ingredients working together, you know?

If you're on the fence, just pick one and commit to it for at least 2-3 months. Take progress photos. But if you're like me and you want results that keep you motivated instead of testing your patience, Veganic is the move.
